Sri Lanka Broadcast Media Report - CBNSat - August 2006
That state of the broadcast media in Sri Lanka in the past few months has concerned many, not only those in media-monitoring and democracy-building capacities, but the general public as well. To begin with, CBNSat and LBN, the two largest private television broadcasters in Sri Lanka, were shut down early June 2006 by the criminal investigation department (CID) on vague allegations of improper licences, the broadcasting of fashion TV, and LTTE connections.
